You'll learn how to explore profiles, stories, and snaps, navigate the Snapchat Map, and understand what data is hiding in plain sight across both the web interface and the mobile app. More importantly, you'll learn how to capture and preserve that information safely and responsibly.

Through real, step-by-step examples, you'll discover how to analyse what you find and turn ordinary snaps into meaningful data points for your investigations.

Snapchat is one of the most widely used social platforms in the world, and most investigators overlook it completely. This course changes that.

To get the most out of this course:

No prior experience is required to take this course. However, having the following will help you get the most out of it:

• A mobile device -- Some techniques are demonstrated using the Snapchat mobile app. You don't need one to follow along, but having an Android or iOS device will let you practice hands-on.
• A sock puppet account -- To safely explore Snapchat without exposing your real identity, a dedicated sock puppet account is recommended. If you're new to the concept, don't worry -- setting one up is straightforward and we touch on best practices during the course.

Key learning objectives:

• Apply effective search techniques -- Find profiles and geotagged snaps using both the mobile app and browser interface.
• Analyse Snapchat accounts and snaps -- Examine data from public and private profiles and uncover additional information hidden within profiles and snaps.
• Capture Snapchat data safely -- Use practical techniques to preserve and document findings from both the mobile app and browser interface.

At the end of the course, you will...

• Search effectively for profiles and snaps -- Use on-platform and off-platform techniques to find profiles, snaps, and geotagged content across both the browser and mobile app.
• Investigate profiles and snaps -- Analyse accounts in depth and extract information that isn't immediately visible.
